POLAND – RUSSIA – EASTERN PRUSSIA

Day 1 ARRIVAL, WARSAW OR GDANSK

Airport pick-up, transfer to hotel in Warsow.

In the evening meeting with the pilot of the group.

Welcome dinner.

Day 2 GDANSK

Breakfast.

Drive to Old Town of Gdansk where we can visit many relicts. Gdansk’s Old Town is one of the most beautiful in Europe. There’s a lot of magnificent churches, e.g. St. Katarzyna’s or St. Jacob’s. The other interesting antique building is Old Town Town Hall, which was built over 100 years – from 1379 to 1492. Town hall has a 80 meter tower on which stands a metal, gold-plated statue of King Sigimund Augustus ( Zygmunt August ). Today it houses a Historical Museum of City of Gdansk. We will also see Mały Młyn and Wielki Młyn, which were built by Teutonic Knights in the mid-fourteenth century on Radunia and Granary ( Radunia i Spichlerz ) canals. At the Old Town of Gdansk are located also monuments of the Defenders of the Polish Post and King John III Sobieski

Free time for walk around the Old Town and shopping – there are many jewelry stores offering jewelry made of amber.

Drive to the hotel, dinner and overnight.

Day 3 MALBORK – FROMBORK – KALININGRAD

Breakfast.

Transfer to Malbork – the medival headquarter of the Grand Masters of The Teutonic Order. Guided tour of the largest Gothic castle in Europe – on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1997.

Further drive to Frombork. Guided tour of the Catherdal in which in the first half of XVI century, Copernicus worked as a canon in this situated on a hill towering cathedral – whith his theses about astronomy he revolutionized the medival view of the world.

Drive to the border crossing with Russi, meeting with the Russian pilot and onward travel to Kaliningrad.

Transfer, chek in at the hotel. Dinner and overnight.

Day 4 KALININGRAD

Breakfast.

Sightseeing Kaliningrad. The city was the capital of Eastern Prussia, it’s situated on both banks of the Pregel. To monumetns we include the Cathedral, the tomb of Immanuel Kant, tha Amber Museum, a former building of the Stock Exchange, St. Luisa church, the ancient fortifications and gates.

In the afternoon excursion to the village Jantarnyj known as the only place in the world where amber is mined. Visiting one of the private amber man ufactories.

Return to Kaliningrad.

Drive to the hotel, dinner and overnight.

Day 5 TILSIT – CHERNYAKHOVSK

Breakfast.

Drive to the second largest city of Kaliningrad Oblast - Tilsit ( rus. Sovyetsk ). Sightseeing the main road, Queen Louise bridge, the building of the theater and the court. Next stop is a visit to the Chernyakhovsk ( ger. Insterburg ). Many years ago and today the city is famous for its Trakehner horse breeding. Center of the city, despite bombing during the Seconda World War, have been preserved in a large extent. Worth seeing are Catholic churches, Orthodos churches, the Old Town Hall Tower and the old train station.

Dinner and overnight in hotel in Chernyakhovsk.

Day 6 MRĄGOWO

Breakfast.

Drive to St. Lipka to Sanctuary of St. Mary, then heading towards Gierloz and sightseeing Hitler’s military headquarter „Wolf’s Lair” - in 1944 over 2000 people lived here. On July 20th, 1944 Colonel Claus Schenk von Stauffenberg has made an unsuccessful attempt on Adolf Hitler.

In the afternoon drive cruise on the Czos lake. Moment of free time in the center of the famous resort of Masuria. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 7

Breakfast.

Transfer to the airport in Warsow or Gdansk. The end of the tour program.
